Location: Elm Road, New Malden
Property Type: Five-bedroom, three-floor semi-detached house
Problem: Inconsistent Wi-Fi coverage in upper floors; concerns about installation impact on newly finished décor
Goal: Seamless connectivity across all floors without damaging walls or disrupting finishes
The Challenge
This recently renovated home on Elm Road in New Malden had been lovingly redesigned with high-end finishes and hand-printed designer wallpaper throughout. The owners had just completed the decoration, and understandably, they were determined to avoid any unsightly trunking or damage to the new walls.
But while the house looked beautiful, the Wi-Fi performance didn’t quite match.
With four children using multiple devices for streaming, gaming, and homework—and parents needing reliable connectivity for work—the existing setup, relying on a standard ISP router and plug-in boosters, wasn’t cutting it. Coverage on the top floor was weak, streaming would buffer, and online games frequently lagged or disconnected.
The family needed a solution that delivered full-speed, stable Wi-Fi across all three floors, without compromising the home’s aesthetic.
Our Solution
We designed a high-performance, discreet Wi-Fi solution that preserved the home’s décor while maximising coverage and reliability.
What We Did:
- Cable routing with care: We worked closely with the homeowners to identify cable routes that avoided any damage to finished surfaces. Where necessary, we routed cables behind existing fixtures and through loft spaces and service voids—completely hidden from view.
- Discreet equipment installation: We installed low-profile, ceiling-mounted TriFi units on each floor in locations that blended in with the home’s design. No flashing lights, plastic boxes, or bulky hardware on display.
- Optimised roaming & load handling: The system uses smart roaming to hand off devices as users move through the house, with the network intelligently managing multiple simultaneous streams, games, and downloads.
The Result
Now, all four children can game, stream, and use video calls simultaneously, with no buffering, no dropouts, and no complaints. The parents have fast, stable internet for remote work and smart home devices, and the top floor (previously a dead zone) now performs just as well as the ground floor.
Most importantly: no visible cables, no damaged wallpaper, and no compromise on the home’s aesthetics.
| Location | Speed Before | Speed After |
|---|---|---|
| Ground Floor (near router) | 500–900 Mbps | 900+ Mbps |
| First Floor Rear Bedrooms | 30–70 Mbps | 600–750 Mbps |
| Top Floor Bedroom | 5–15 Mbps | 500–700 Mbps |
“We were nervous about having anything installed after just finishing the house, but the work was spotless and the results are incredible. The kids can game, stream and FaceTime all at once, and we haven’t had a single issue since.”
