Case Study: Reliable Wi-Fi and smart entertainment for a nursing home in Weybridge

Location: Weybridge, Surrey
Property Type: Residential nursing home with private rooms and shared lounges
Requirements: Separate secure networks for staff and residents, stable Wi-Fi for Smart TVs, and wireless audio in communal areas
Key Outcome: Full coverage throughout, seamless streaming, and better resident experiences

The Challenge

This family-run nursing home in Weybridge had been gradually modernising its facilities, but Wi-Fi was holding them back. Coverage was patchy, especially in bedrooms and communal lounges, and the existing network couldn’t cope with the increasing demand from both residents and staff.

Staff required a secure and reliable connection for accessing medical records, reporting care, and conducting video calls with families. Meanwhile, residents wanted to use Smart TVs, access video calls with loved ones, and enjoy wireless music in lounges, without frustrating delays or buffering.

With no structured cabling and minimal technical infrastructure in place, the home required a robust and carefully planned solution that wouldn’t disrupt daily care or necessitate extensive building work.

Our Solution

We designed and installed a professional-grade Wi-Fi network that delivers a strong, stable signal across the entire building, with separate, secure access for staff and residents, and full support for innovative entertainment systems.

What We Did:

  • Zoned Wi-Fi coverage: We installed hardwired TriFi units across all floors to ensure seamless coverage for private bedrooms, corridors, and shared spaces.
  • Network separation: Residents and guests access a dedicated, filtered Wi-Fi network, while staff operate on a private, secure network for care documentation and admin tasks.
  • Smart entertainment support: Smart TVs in each bedroom are now connected to stable Wi-Fi, allowing residents to stream their favourite shows or enjoy video calls with family without interruptions.
  • Sonos speaker setup: We installed Sonos speakers in both lounges and connected them to the resident network. Now, carers can easily play music throughout the day, including popular wartime hits that bring comfort and joy to many of the residents.

The Result

The care home now has a reliable, secure, and future-ready network—with happier residents, more efficient staff, and far fewer tech headaches.

Case Study: Discreet Wi-Fi Installation for a Grade II Listed Pub in Molesey

Location: Molesey, Surrey
Property Type: Grade II listed public house with indoor dining and outdoor beer garden
Key Challenges: Listed status restrictions; no reliable Wi-Fi for ordering systems or card machines; poor signal in the beer garden
Solution: Carefully planned, low-impact cabling and access point installation approved by Elmbridge Council and Historic England

The Challenge

This historic Grade II-listed pub in the heart of Molesey is a beloved local venue with character, charm, and, until recently, frustratingly unreliable Wi-Fi. Thick walls, timber beams, and an ad-hoc mix of old telecoms wiring meant the pub struggled with slow speeds and dead spots throughout the premises.

The management team wanted to modernise operations with a tablet-based ordering system, Wi-Fi-enabled card machines, and contactless payments available throughout, including in the outdoor beer garden. But with the building’s listed status, they were rightly concerned about how to run new infrastructure without damaging the structure or breaching regulations.

Our Solution

We worked closely with Elmbridge Borough Council and Historic England to agree on a compliant, non-invasive cabling plan that protected the building’s historic features while delivering modern, reliable connectivity.

What We Did:

  • Conservation-aware cabling: We planned and installed CAT6 cabling through approved routes that preserved original beams, brickwork, and panelling. Surface-mounted routes were finished with traditional mouldings to blend seamlessly into the pub’s interior.
  • Discreet Wi-Fi coverage: We installed compact, low-visibility TriFi units throughout the interior and strategically placed outdoor-rated units to cover the beer garden, allowing full coverage with minimal visual impact.
  • Point-of-Sale integration: The upgraded network now supports wireless ordering tablets, mobile card machines, and back-of-house systems, including order printers, replacing the unreliable mix of boosters and poor signal hotspots that previously caused regular issues.

The Result

The pub now has rock-solid Wi-Fi throughout—indoors and out—supporting:

  • Tablet-based ordering from the table
  • Reliable mobile card payments at the bar and in the garden
  • Stable back-office systems for stock and booking
  • Guest Wi-Fi with separate secure access

All installations were completed without disrupting the look and feel of the historic venue.

“We couldn’t be happier with the result. Everything just works—and even the beer garden is fully online. The work was sympathetic to the building and approved without any issues.”
